rising up from the dust

Izzy quickly dressed, trying not to glare into the mirror. Still, it was unbelievable. Maybe she was dreaming. Maybe she should stop thinking of herself as a she because she very well wasn't.

She grabbed her pink phone and slung her black messenger bag across her chest just to learn it was a bit short. Her waist was longer now. Naturally, she couldn't even fit into her flip-flops. She had to take Dev's.

Izzy looked back at Dev. What would he think? Would he think he was mad or go crazy and try to kill her, right here? Izzy would have to think. But not here. Of course, she doubted she could wake him. He was still out of it. To much drink. He'd probably have a hangover. It wouldn't be unusual if he did. He knew how to party and he party-ed hard. Yeap, that was her bloke. Tried and true. Couldn't change him. She wouldn't want to, either. However, she had. And this would be just mad. Totally, mad.

Izzy went straight to the beach. Perhaps a walk would do her good. Maybe she'd wake up and find it was a shitty dream of some kind. Really, she was overcome with tears. This was just not right. Who could explain it? Could they explain it?

Of course, all that was on the beach were a few old bodies out scavenging the sand. A kiddie or two who had a head start on building castles. Izzy walked out to where they'd fucked. Or so she thought. Anyway, it was hard to tell now. With all the sand and water tidying up the spot.

Izzy's stomach began to growl. Hunger over came her. But she needed to think. What to do? Where to go? Should she end up at the emergency room and tell them what had happened?

She ran out into the waves thinking if she swam out and back, then that might do the trick. But the water was cold. She barely got her feet wet. A senseless idea, probably. So she walked up the beach to a little coffee shop and ordered an egg burrito. Perhaps coffee and breakfast would help. At least it would help the growing appetite.

But as she savored the food and nursed on the creamed coffee, she had to wonder how long she could stay away from Dev. It would be likely impossible. She needed him more than ever. But how could she talk to him now. How was this suppose to work? She caught herself almost in tears, again. She guessed that would look down right ridiculous for any passerby.

I do wonder how Dev is going to react. Hopefully, food will help.
